Water Awareness and First Responders Course
Storm Geomatics Surveyors started the New Year with the completion of a Water Awareness and First Responders course provided by Blueprint Water Safety. The day long course covered the theory and practical sides of water safety. The team were able to test out new techniques for movement in shallow water and fast flowing water. The training emphasised the importance of wearing the correct P.P.E and the surveyors were able to test out Storm Geomatics’ new inflatable raft! After completing the pipe and cable locating training course with C.Scope last month, surveyors at Storm Geomatics are now using their new skills on a cable locating survey for a railway company. A team consisting of a surveyor and electrician have embarked on a pilot project to save the railway company money through un-metered third party energy usage. The initial survey results indicate significant energy loss for the company which can be mitigated through sub-metering. A report has been produced for each railway station clearly stating the third party user, how they are connected to the main site meter and an instantaneous measurement of energy at the time of survey to assess the approximate energy loss. Storm Geomatics also have a solution to recover unpaid energy usage going back up to ten years! These assessments could lead to up to 250 railway stations to be surveyed over the next few months.
