Rafting down the River Avon
On Sunday 26th June a Team of River Surveyors from Storm Geomatics Limited competed in the local Raft Race along 7.5 miles of the River Avon. “Storm Georaft” achieved the fastest ever recorded time for a 10 person raft in the history of the Stratford Lions Raft Race with a time of 2 hours and 27 minutes – not bad for a first attempt! Despite the pouring rain and a few tip ups along the way, it was great fun. We have raised just over £1,200 for our local charity, The Shakespeare Hospice. Thank you to everyone who has supported us and donated to this fantastic charity and we hope to see you at next years race!
Ickles Weir on The River Don[nbsp]was surveyed by a boat team for a scheme to open up a passage for fish to travel past the obstacle. Access to the weir was extremely difficult as the river is contained by steep walls on both banks. The survey team eventually found a suitable launch site a considerable distance downstream and eventually got the boat into position to survey the scour hole at the toe of the weir. No matter how difficult an area is, the team at Storm will normally find a way in[nbsp]and get a top job done[nbsp]for you safely, within budget and delivered on time.
