Storming success at GeoBusiness 2017

07.05.2017

Storm Geomatics made a spectacular impact again this year at GeoBusiness with an in house “Twitter Campaign”. [nbsp]This resulted in lots of thoughtful and funny tweets leading up to the event, so when Storm arrived, many people had seen these and were commenting on how funny it had been to follow the posts.

Our software, Geo River 1.4 pulled in plenty of interest and was a huge success with many people attending the workshop on the first day, led by Mike Hopkins and Anthony Pritchard. Geo River’s main benefit is that you can import structures directly from the Geo River software into Flood Modeller Pro and HECRAS, removing the manual construction of structures in flood modeller.

May was also a very busy month for Storm Geomatics surveying throughout the country from Anglesey to Hampshire.[nbsp] Fleet Brook and Pond in Hampshire had to be carefully planned as much of the brook ran through residents back gardens.[nbsp] This meant a letter drop took place prior to the survey to let residents know of the survey taking place and to answer any questions they might have had.[nbsp] This made the completion of the job much easier as the residents were expecting the survey teams at their properties.[nbsp] Many people were interested in what Storm were doing, and even wanted their gardens surveyed when they could see surveyors doing their neighbours![nbsp]

Fleet pond is the largest freshwater lake in Hampshire and is also a nature reserve for varied habitats including heathland, woodland, reed bed and marsh and is also home to many birds, butterflies, dragonflies and wild flowers.[nbsp] Utmost care was taken when completing the survey on the lake to ensure that the wildlife were undisturbed as much as possible.
